The John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera offers unique insights into the changing nature of everyday life in Britain in the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. You can access it in any West Sussex library and 24/7 from your computer, tablet or smartphone once you are a member.
Go to eInformation: Online Reference Library and click A-Z of electronic resources.
Then scroll down to the John Johnson collection. If using your own device, you will need to login with your library card number.
How to search
Enter your search term in the box at the top right of the home page and click Go. Click the Need Help link (circled, below) to get suggestions to help improve your searching.
Use the ‘Search’ button to refine your search. You can refine your search using as many or as few options as required. The Search form is shown below.
How to Browse
Use the ‘Browse’ button to look through the different categories and sub categories. Examples of both are shown in the boxes below.
Once you have searched you will get a list of suggested records. View the image by either clicking on the thumbnail or selecting the PDF format.
The images may be downloaded or printed but please remember that they are under copyright so may only be used for your own personal use. The terms and conditions can be found in the Information Resources section.
