Access to Research

Access to Research gives free access to over 15million academic articles. These are useful for studying, research or even work. It is available to search at home but you can only read or print the articles in any West Sussex library.

The world famous Britannica Library is a recommended source of general information and comes in three different levels. JuniorStudent and Adult. It contains lots of images and videos as well to help bring topics alive.
It is available to library members in all West Sussex libraries and from home.

Dictionary of National Biography

Dictionary of National Biography is available to library members from home. It gives a huge amount of information on famous or notable people who shaped the history of the British Isles and beyond. It includes biographies of over 60,000 men and women who died in or before 2016.

John Johnson

This collection provides access to thousands of items selected from the John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera, offering unique insights into the changing nature of everyday life in Britain in the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Categories include Nineteenth-Century Entertainment, the Booktrade, Popular Prints, Crimes, Murders and Executions, and Advertising.
It is available to library members in all West Sussex libraries and from home.

Oxford Reference

Oxford Reference includes over 100 reference titles such as dictionaries, timelines, flags and maps. It is available to library members in all West Sussex libraries and from home.

Theory Test Pro

Theory Test Pro is available for free to library members from home, you will need to sign up for an individual account to access this resource. It has all the driving theory test questions, a large amount of hazard perception tests and is frequently updated.

With Transparent Language Online you can learn over 110 languages, including English for speakers of over 30 languages including Pashto, Dari, Ukranian and Russian, for free with your library card.

You can access Which? on PCs in any West Sussex Library, please ask staff to log you in. Which? provides access to reports, buying guides and recent research on consumer products.

Who's Who and Who was Who is available to library members from home. It is an encyclopaedia of influential and noteworthy people in all areas of public life. It includes authors, pop stars, royalty and many more. Read our Who's Who helpsheet.

BBC Bitesize - homework help for Primary and Secondary school children.

Internet Archive - a non profit library of millions of books, music and pictures.

Wikipedia - like Britannica it is full of useful information. However, as it is publicly changeable, use it as a starting point and verify the information from another source!
