Join the Library

If you live, work or study in West Sussex you can join our library service for free!

Just fill in the online form below:

  • you will need to choose a library as your home branch so that your details can be registered
  • fields marked with an * must be filled in
  • your Postcode must be entered in capital letters with a space in the middle. For instance: RH10 6HG not rh106hg.
  • to complete registration, tick the box at the end of the form, which means you agree to our library byelaws and terms and conditions.
Choose a library
  • With your library card, you can borrow up to 20 items from libraries, plus access ebooks, magazines, newspapers and eInformation resources such as Ancestry, through our eLibrary. You can also use Library computers for free with your library card, for two hours a day.
  • You can join in person by visiting any West Sussex Library – just bring ID containing your name and address with you.
  • You'll receive email confirmation of your membership the next working day and will then be able to access the eLibrary
  • (If you're under 14 you'll need the permission and library card number of a parent or carer.)
  • Your library card will be sent to you by post.
  • To upgrade to full membership, you'll need to visit your local library and show ID including your name and address. With full membership you can borrow up to 20 books for 3 weeks, free of charge. You can read more information about full library membership.
  • If you are a Crawley College student please go into the Library with your library card and College ID to get your membership finalised. You will still receive the library card by post.
  • If you're already a member but have lost your library card, please complete our online form. You'll then need to visit your local library to collect your replacement card. There is a small replacement fee for this service.
