Several members of the group were initially put off by the length of the book and the small print, but all found they were drawn in as they continued to read. It is an age-old story of two lovers who have very different but comparative experiences of living and surviving in another country. It gives a new perspective on racism, particularly in the US. We all enjoyed it, and would rate it 7/8.
