Welcome to Christmas Story Magic online: Aladdin, a Bag Books Story.
This multi-sensory story is fun and suitable for everyone but especially brilliant for children with additional needs.
To take part in this multi-sensory story you may like to gather a few of the following items from around the home to use as props to help bring the story alive and engage with the senses.
The items we will be using for this story are:
1. A heart-shaped object or picture of a heart
2. Princess mask
3. Throwing star
4. A toy teapot or an empty teapot if safe to use as a magic lamp
5. Ribbon stick
6. Toy jewels or cheap jewellery
7. Toy ring
8. Bag
9. Paper chains
10. Bubbles
If you don’t have an item at home you could swap it for another or even add extra items if you wish.
Why not also visit Bag Books to see some of their DIY stories too?

Booktrust have some fantastic material – from Cressida Cowell reading ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ to ‘Draw along with Ed Vere’. They also have a handy list of authors and illustrators who have things to share online – something to help keep children entertained almost every day of the week!
For younger children try the Booktrust Rhymes or listen to a story. Lulu Loves Stories is available to listen to in lots of different languages – have a look to see and there are lots of others too.
Bag books are also sharing stories online – follow them on Twitter @bagbooks to see two new stories every week.

We usually offer at least one Rhyme Time or Toddler Time from each of our 36 libraries every week and many also hold Storytimes, so while library sessions are suspended, we are finding ways to bring rhymes and stories to you at home!
Here you can watch our online Rhyme Times, Storytimes or Story Magic sessions.
Also, see our Children's Activities page for many more suggestions of stories, rhymes, authors and ways to keep busy and have fun!
We will be adding more resources to this page so please keep checking!

As we’re not able to restart our popular Baby Rhyme Time sessions in our libraries, we are posting online Rhyme Times on our Family Corner Facebook page every Tuesday at 10.30am. Join us for 20 minutes of hand-clapping and knee-jogging action songs and nursery rhymes for preschool children and their families. You can also watch past Rhyme Times on our YouTube channel. Come and join in the fun!
