“I was doing the pontoons. I was building the bridges across the rivers and that. There was four pontoons. The other lot had two wagons for their tools for the sappers you see, wherever they wanted to get them to. Before the War, we were down at Sutton on the Thames for six weeks in 1913 building a pontoon across the Thames. For about six weeks before the war broke out. Very nice too.”
