“You know you've got it 'cos it makes your eyes and nose and mouth run, you can't stop it, it keeps running and running and running.”
[Interviewer] “Is it painful?
Stings, yeah. I forget what the doctors done to us now. I think we had stuff to drink and your hands had to be scrubbed. I know we were there 2 or 3 days and then we were taken back up the line to our regiment then after that.”
[Interviewer] “Did it take you long then to recover?
No, I think as far as I can remember we were alright. I think we were in this First Aid post 3 days near as I can say, that's all. It doesn't knock you out, not right out, you just stand there like this and you're dribbling and there's nothing you can do about it, your eyes are running, your nose is running, you're dribbling, it's all going down your front you just can't do anything about it.”
